5 Ways to Relax at Home This Holiday Season

We’ll be spreading the cheer a little closer to home this holiday season. And by little, we mean much closer to home. Stay home and chill out is the Kiaro mantra for the holidays this year.

And we have some ideas of how to make the most of your stay at home. After all, just because you’re at home doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate and indulge in some well-deserved self-care. In fact, we think the 2020 holiday season is a great time to make some new traditions. Without further ado, here are Kiaro’s recommendations to make the most of your relaxing time at home:

  • Indulge with some dark chocolate
  • Not only does dark chocolate taste like a luxurious piece of heaven, but it is chock-full of good-for-you benefits like antioxidants and serotonin (often referred to as the happiness hormone). Look for pure dark chocolate with at least 70% cocoa content—that’s the sweet spot.

And if you want your dark chocolate to have a bit more of an impact, try Chowie Wowie’s CBD Dark Chocolate.

  • Get outside
  • Research has indicated there is a strong correlation between time spent in nature and reduced stress—so don’t be afraid to get outside for a walk or to build a snowman or snow angel this holiday season. Interacting with natural spaces can lower blood pressure and stress hormone levels.

Too cold out there for you? Toss some soothing nature sounds on your speaker and prepare to relax and daydream the afternoon away.

  • Surround yourself with a “chill out” scent
  • Hear me out, “chill out” needs to have its own separate scent section. Lavender is thought to restore calmness after long days, as well as improving sleep with its relaxing and calming fragrance. It’s why so many spas light lavender candles.

And let’s not forget about citrus scents. The fresh scent of lemon or grapefruit can lift spirits and brighten moods. If citrus is your jam, the Foray Blackberry Cream vape carts are just the right place to start. With a fresh, leafy flavour, woody finish and a hint of citrus and smooth vanilla, this vape checks all the boxes on chill.

Lastly, let’s look at a terpene—those little compounds that provide cannabis plants (among other plants) with fragrance and flavour. Linalool, a popular cannabis terpene, is also found in lavender and is believed to promote calmness and relaxation.

  • Roll out some holiday tension
  • Spa days may not be on the list of holiday events this year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t melt away the tension at home. A foam roller, or even a simple tennis ball, can work out those kinks caused by holiday stress. Actually, let’s call it 2020 stress.

Here are some rolling moves that specifically target stress reduction. Plus, if you’re looking for a quick and easy way to melt away from tension, try this quick foot massage: place a tennis ball at the arch of your foot and slowly roll back and forth. It’s heavenly.

  • Unwind with some of Kiaro’s indica picks
  • Indica strains are known for being the perfect cannabis nightcap. Unlike sativa varieties, indicas are known to be physically sedating and great for winding down after a long day—or as a calming reward following a family video call.

Here are some of our other favorites!  A happy holiday to all, and to all a good night. Literally.
